Shopping for a Portable TV Digital

You must have a need for the portability of a small television or you wouldn’t have searched for ‘portable TV Digital’. Todays portable TV’s are technology marvels. They can be extremely small with a screen as small as 2.5″ to larger (but still portable) screens up to about 9″. The screen clarity is fantastic too with the use of LCD technology.

In the past, the most common place to see a portable TV was in the kitchen but those days are long gone now. The popularity of portable TV’s exploded when car manufactures begin putting them in new vehicles. A great idea for people with kids who can use them to have a little peace and quiet while on the road. Used with headsets, the front passengers never have to hear the movie, or even worse the sounds of the latest video game being played by those in the backseat.

Todays sports stadiums all have big screens on them so the days of having to use a portable TV to take to the game to see the instant replays are just about over. But if you get to the game early and want to do some tailgating, then you will need a portable TV. With a portable TV digital is the only way to go. The clarity is much better using digital.

Other than sporting events, another popular place you will find portable TV’s is where people are camping. Having a portable TV along with a DVD player (HD or Blu-Ray) can be a real lifesaver if the weather decided not to cooperate. It may not be what you had planned but having a the portable TV will make sitting in the RV or tent a lot more enjoyable during a rained out camping trip. Of maybe it’s just me that get’s my camping trips rained out. And of course if you are really into sports, a portable TV digital will allow you to watch the big game while camping too. The best of both worlds.

If you happen to be the parent of a child in college the you may want to consider a portable TV for their dorm room. I know the dorm rooms on TV always look spacious but in real life they are extremely small. And for todays college student they just have to have a TV.

There are few things you should consider when looking to buy a portable TV digital:

Portable TV Digital Features

Display – Older portable TV’s used the old CRT type of displays. These are just about all gone now. Today’s portable TVs nearly all use LCD technology for their screen display. This makes them a lot more energy efficient, the picture a lot clearer and the physical size of the unit much smaller.

Tuner- Since you searched for ‘portable TV digital’ you must already know the importance of a digital tuner. During 2009 all television broadcast signals were switched to a digital format. That means if you buy an older TV without a digital tuner, the television will not work unless you add an external digital converter box. Which kind of defeats the purpose of a portable TV. So, without any doubt, be sure the television you are buying has a digital tuner.

Headphone capable – You may want to consider a television with a headphone jack. That will allow you to watch the game (or whatever else) privately without everyone else having to listen to it. For more permanent installations you can even buy wireless headphones so there’s no cord to mess with. These work great. The downside is that they all require the use of 120 volts so unless you have an inverter on your camping trip, they are out.

Power – If you plan on using the portable TV in places without AC power then you will want one with the ability to operate from a cigarette lighter plug in a vehicle or one that comes with a rechargeable battery. Be sure to check the battery capacity to make sure it will run the television long enough. You don’t want the battery going dead with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

There are lots of other things you should consider before you buy a portable television, but I believe we have touched on the ones that are the most important. Whether you are looking for a digital portable TV or a portable TV digital the considerations are the same.
